Why French ?
Why French ?

In the whole world nearly 75 million people are registered as French native speakers. The main reason is that French is the official language of several countries in Europe (Luxembourg for example), of some islands as Haiti, of the Canadian Province of Québec and of more than fifteen countries in Africa (Senegal, Guinea, Gabon for example). In total, French is spoken throughout 41 nations known as La Francophonie. On top of that it is an unofficial second language in several countries as Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia. So this language can be very useful when it comes to travelling!

Worldwide, French ranks as the second language after English. In addition, it has been used as an international language in commerce and diplomacy and was very present in educated circles during the last few centuries ; that is why it still enjoys a great prestige. It is also used officially by the United Nations.

For someone whose mother-tongue is English, it can be quite easy to learn French as you will be able to recognize French words which are similar to the English ones.

But, more important, even if English is used worldwide, 94% of the world population have another language than English as their mother-tongue and 74% of them do not speak English at all. So keep in mind that foreign languages are important in order to communicate and that English is not enough!
